COPILOT TRAINING
ADMIN & GOVERNANCE TRAINING FOR IT.
This is the session for the people who'll get the call when Copilot surfaces a file it shouldn't. We work in your own admin centres (or a test tenant), on the specific controls that matter once Copilot is switched on tenant-wide.
Who it's for
IT administrators and the people accountable for the tenant once Copilot licences are switched on — the ones who own the response when something in Copilot surfaces a file it shouldn't.
Format
Usually half a day, hands-on in your own tenant's admin centres or a test tenant. On-site at your premises or live remote.
What people leave able to do
- Assign, monitor and reclaim Copilot licences in the Microsoft 365 admin centre.
- Find and act on overshared SharePoint sites using SharePoint Advanced Management, before Copilot makes them easy to find.
- Apply Restricted Content Discovery to a site quickly, without changing who can already access it, while a proper permissions clean-up happens.
- Apply and check sensitivity labels so protection carries through into Copilot-generated content.
- Search the unified audit log for Copilot interactions and stand up an eDiscovery case if one's needed.
- Control which agents can be built, published and shared in the tenant — including blocking agent creation entirely for groups that shouldn't have it.
The session, module by module
What we cover.
Module 1
Licensing and assignment
Assigning and monitoring Copilot licences in the Microsoft 365 admin centre, and using Microsoft's own diagnostic to verify a specific account actually meets the requirements before assuming it does.
Module 2
Finding oversharing before Copilot does
Using SharePoint Advanced Management to surface overshared, ownerless and inactive sites, and reports on where sensitive data sits.
Module 3
Restricted Content Discovery
What it does — removing a site from Copilot and org-wide search surfacing without changing existing access — and when to use it as a fast stop-gap versus fixing permissions properly.
Module 4
Sensitivity labels in practice
Applying labels and checking that protection actually carries through into what Copilot returns and generates, not just into the source file.
Module 5
Audit and eDiscovery
Finding Copilot interactions in the unified audit log, and standing up an eDiscovery case when one's genuinely needed.
Module 6
Governing agents
Tenant-wide agent settings — who can create agents, sharing limits, and how to block agent creation for a group entirely — so agent sprawl doesn't outrun governance.
Prompts we practise in the room
Real tasks, not demo tricks.
Summarise an audit export
Summarise this exported audit log and flag any Copilot interaction involving a file outside the finance SharePoint site.
Draft a rollout communication
Draft a short note to staff explaining that a specific SharePoint site has had Copilot discovery restricted while we tidy its permissions.
Compare configurations
Compare these two tenant configuration exports and list every setting that's different.
Explain a control to a non-technical exec
Explain what Restricted Content Discovery does, in two sentences a non-technical board member would understand.
Licences: what attendees need
This module is about controlling licensing and access at scale, not the individual seat questions the other sessions cover. Copilot licences are assigned per user against a qualifying Microsoft 365 plan; agents that ground on shared tenant data separately consume Copilot Credits from a capacity pack or pay-as-you-go, and that spend is worth its own line of visibility once agent-building spreads past a single team. We'll walk through where to watch both.

Before you book this session.
- How many admins can attend together?
- We keep groups small enough to be hands-on — tell us your headcount and we'll suggest cohorts. Most tenants only need their core IT team through this once.
- Can this be run against our actual tenant configuration?
- Yes, and it's better that way — we can work in a copy or a test tenant if you'd rather not make live changes during the session, but the SharePoint sprawl and licence assignments we look at should be yours, not a demo tenant's.
- Do IT admins need a personal Copilot licence to attend?
- No — the admin-centre and governance work doesn't require a personal seat, though seeing the end-user experience firsthand helps, so we usually bring a licensed account to demo from.
- Can you run this on-site?
- Yes. We have offices in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide and run on-site sessions at client premises in those cities as standard; elsewhere in Australia on-site is arranged case by case, or we run it live remote.
- What happens after the session?
- A written list of the sites, labels and settings we flagged during the day, and — if wanted — a scoped readiness review or an ongoing governance check-in.
