COPILOT TRAINING
BUILD-YOUR-FIRST-AGENT WORKSHOP.
For the business that's past 'everyone should use Copilot Chat' and wants a specific, repeatable workflow turned into a working agent. Everyone leaves with something built and published, not a slide about what's possible.
Who it's for
Business owners, operations leads or a nominated 'agent owner' who has a specific, repeatable workflow in mind — not a general Copilot rollout — and wants to see a working agent built, not just talked about.
Format
Usually a full day, hands-on, capped to a small group so everyone leaves with a working agent rather than just a demo. On-site at your premises or live remote.
What people leave able to do
- Describe the difference between Copilot Chat, an in-app Copilot (Word, Excel, etc.) and a custom agent built in Copilot Studio.
- Build and publish a first agent grounded on a real document, SharePoint site or FAQ list from their own business.
- Explain how Copilot Credits work — what triggers a metered action, and roughly how usage scales as more people use the agent.
- Know the governance controls available — sharing limits, who can publish, who can create agents at all — before rolling an agent out past the room.
- Leave with a working agent and a written list of what it would take to move it to production.
The session, module by module
What we cover.
Module 1
From chat to agent
What an agent adds over Copilot Chat: its own instructions, its own grounding source, its own audience — and when that's worth building versus just prompting well.
Module 2
Planning the first agent
Picking a genuinely repeatable, bounded use case from the business — an FAQ, a policy lookup, a triage flow — rather than something too broad to ground reliably.
Module 3
Building it
Hands-on in Copilot Studio: writing instructions, adding a knowledge source, and testing as you go.
Module 4
Publishing and sharing
Who can access the finished agent, and the tenant's sharing and publishing controls that decide that.
Module 5
Credits and cost
How Copilot Credits are metered per agent action, the difference between pre-paid capacity packs and pay-as-you-go, and what to watch once real usage starts.
Module 6
What production-ready looks like
The honest gap between a workshop agent and one safe to put in front of customers or the whole business — and what closing that gap usually takes.
Prompts we practise in the room
Real tasks, not demo tricks.
Writing agent instructions
Answer questions about our expense policy using only the attached policy document, and say so plainly if the answer isn't in it.
Testing the agent
As a new employee, ask the agent what the mileage reimbursement rate is and whether a receipt is required.
Refining tone
Rewrite the agent's greeting message so it sounds like our brand, not a generic chatbot.
Edge-case testing
Ask the agent something outside its knowledge source and check that it says it doesn't know, rather than guessing.
Licences: what attendees need
Copilot Studio is available as part of a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence for building agents used inside Microsoft 365, and separately as its own tenant-wide licence with pre-paid Copilot Credit capacity packs or pay-as-you-go metering. Every agent action — a response, a lookup, a step in a more complex flow — draws down Copilot Credits, so a lightly used workshop agent costs very little, but a widely shared one needs real planning around capacity. We walk through exactly how to estimate that on the day rather than guess at it.

Before you book this session.
- How many people should come to this workshop?
- We keep groups small enough to be hands-on — tell us your headcount and we'll suggest cohorts. A full day works best capped at a small group so everyone actually finishes with a published agent.
- Can we bring our own document or use case?
- Yes — that's the point. Bring the policy, FAQ list or process you want the agent grounded on and we'll build around it on the day.
- Do attendees need a personal Copilot Studio licence?
- The tenant needs Copilot Studio access (via a Copilot licence or its own tenant-wide licence); individual attendees don't need a personal seat to take part in building the agent during the workshop.
- Will this cost us money to run afterwards?
- Yes — agent actions draw down Copilot Credits from a capacity pack or pay-as-you-go. A workshop agent used lightly by a handful of testers costs very little, and part of the session is showing you how to estimate cost as usage grows.
- Can you run this on-site?
- Yes. We have offices in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide and run on-site sessions at client premises in those cities as standard; elsewhere in Australia on-site is arranged case by case, or we run it live remote.
- What happens after the workshop?
- A working, published agent, plus a written list of what's needed to take it to production — permissions, testing, and a realistic credit-usage estimate.
