COPILOT TRAINING
CHAMPIONS / TRAIN-THE-TRAINER.

A single workshop fades in a few weeks without someone in the building keeping it alive. This program builds that — a small group of credible, willing staff who can answer the everyday question and run their own lunch-and-learn, backed by a follow-up session once real questions have come in.

Who it's for

Organisations rolling Copilot out past the pilot stage, who want a small group of enthusiastic, credible staff able to answer day-to-day questions and keep momentum going after the initial training is done.

Format

Usually a half-day kickoff session for 8–15 nominated champions, plus a shorter follow-up session 3–4 weeks later. On-site at your premises or live remote.

What people leave able to do

  • Explain Copilot's capabilities and limits to a colleague in plain language, including what's free and what needs a licence.
  • Run a 15–20 minute demo or lunch-and-learn for their own team.
  • Field the most common questions and objections without escalating every one to IT.
  • Know where to send a colleague for something genuinely outside their depth — IT, Frontrow, or Microsoft's own resources.
  • Collect and route feedback and blockers back to whoever is sponsoring the rollout, rather than letting them go unheard.

The session, module by module

What we cover.

  1. Module 1

    The champion's brief

What the role is and isn't — encouragement and everyday support, not tier-one helpdesk. Set expectations before anyone volunteers for more than they signed up for.

  2. Module 2

    Copilot deep-dive for champions

A level below the general staff workshop: the free-versus-paid boundary in detail, what agents are, file upload, and the failure modes champions will actually get asked about.

  3. Module 3

    Practising the pitch

Champions build and deliver a short demo to each other, with feedback, before they do it for real in front of their own team.

  4. Module 4

    Handling questions and pushback

Realistic objections — 'it made something up', 'I don't trust it with client data' — and how to answer them honestly rather than defensively.

  5. Module 5

    The follow-up session

Three to four weeks later: what's landed, what hasn't, and troubleshooting real examples champions have collected from their own teams in the meantime.

  6. Module 6

    Feeding it back

A simple, low-effort way for champions to log recurring questions and blockers so leadership actually sees the pattern.

Prompts we practise in the room

Real tasks, not demo tricks.

  • Live demo prompt

Summarise this week's team update email into three bullet points I can read out loud.

  • Answering a sceptic

List three honest limitations of Copilot Chat I should mention when I demo it to my team.

  • Practising file upload

Here's our new expense policy — what changed compared to the version from last year?

  • Troubleshooting a real question

Why might Copilot have given two different answers to the same question asked an hour apart?

Licences: what attendees need

Champions themselves don't need anything beyond what their own role already has — free Copilot Chat covers most of the demo material, and champions with a paid seat can show the in-app Word, Excel and PowerPoint experience as well. Part of this program is making sure champions can correctly tell a colleague which of those two applies to their account, since that's the single most common question a champion fields.

FAQ — Copilot champions / train-the-trainer

Before you book this session.

How many champions should we nominate?
We keep groups small enough to be hands-on — tell us your headcount and department spread and we'll suggest a cohort size, typically 8–15 for a first round.
Can this be customised to our rollout?
Yes — tell us what's already been trained and what's landed badly, and we'll shape the deep-dive and objection-handling material around your actual rollout rather than a generic one.
Do champions need a Copilot licence?
No — the program works whether a champion has free Copilot Chat or a paid seat, and part of the content is teaching them to tell the difference for a colleague.
Can you run this on-site?
Yes. We have offices in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide and run on-site sessions at client premises in those cities as standard; elsewhere in Australia on-site is arranged case by case, or we run it live remote.
What happens after the follow-up session?
A short written list of recurring questions and blockers champions have surfaced, so leadership has something concrete to act on rather than a vague sense that adoption 'could be better'.
