FAQ — Copilot pricing Australia

The questions Australian buyers ask before committing to seats.

How much does Microsoft 365 Copilot cost in Australia in 2026?
Microsoft 365 Copilot lists at USD $30 per user per month, which converts to approximately AUD $45 per seat per month under Microsoft's regional pricing model, plus GST for non-input-credit customers. Enterprise Agreement customers can negotiate, and the recently revised "Copilot for All" promotion lifts a 40% discount at 1,000 seats. The calculator below defaults to AUD $45 per seat per month — change the input to match what is on the renewal quote in front of you.
What base Microsoft 365 licence does Copilot need?
Microsoft 365 Copilot requires an eligible base licence per seat. The qualifying SKUs are Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Microsoft 365 Business Premium, Microsoft 365 E3 and Microsoft 365 E5. Office 365 plans now also qualify in most cases. The base licence cost sits separately from the Copilot per-seat cost and changes with the July 2026 pricing cycle for most plans.
What changed in April 2026 for Copilot pricing in Australia?
Microsoft updated the "Copilot for All" promotional thresholds on 13 April 2026. The 40% discount on M365 Copilot now applies at 1,000 seats (down from 1,500), and the 80% Information Worker coverage requirement was dropped. The 30% tier remains available at lower volumes. For Australian mid-market tenants between 700 and 1,500 seats, the economics moved meaningfully in the buyer's favour.
Are Copilot AUD prices changing in July 2026?
Microsoft 365 Copilot per-seat pricing has not been announced as part of the 1 July 2026 cycle. Most underlying base SKUs (E3, E5, Business Standard, Business Basic, Office 365 E1 and E3, F1 and F3) are increasing on that date. Microsoft 365 Business Premium is the exception and is unchanged. Frontrow has a full plan-by-plan AUD breakdown of the July 2026 cycle in the renewal guide linked below.
What does total Copilot cost actually look like for an Australian business?
Three layers. The per-seat licence (around AUD $45/month). The base Microsoft 365 licence per seat (varies by SKU). The readiness work that lands before the seats go live — identity remediation, SharePoint hygiene, Purview labels, adoption program. The readiness piece is the variable that makes or breaks the value of the licence spend, and is the one most quotes leave out.
