COPILOT TRAINING
FOR HR & PEOPLE TEAMS.
HR gets real value out of Copilot fast — job ads, policy drafts, case timelines — and also sits on the most sensitive content in the tenant. We spend real time on both halves of that, not just the fun part.
Who it's for
HR, people and payroll teams who want Copilot to help with job ads, policy drafts and case notes — without it anywhere near a medical certificate, a WHS incident report or a confidential grievance file.
Format
Usually 2–3 hours, hands-on, repeatable across cohorts. On-site at your premises or live remote.
What people leave able to do
- Use Copilot to draft job ads, position descriptions and interview questions from a brief.
- Draft and tidy HR policy and procedure documents, starting from the organisation's own templates.
- Summarise long case notes or an email chain into a plain-English timeline.
- Explain what sensitivity labels and Microsoft Purview do in an HR context, and why an unlabelled personnel file is an oversharing risk the moment Copilot is switched on.
- Know which HR content should never be typed or pasted into Copilot Chat as free text, and use the tenant's own permissioned files instead.
The session, module by module
What we cover.
Module 1
What Copilot is good at in HR
Job ads, position descriptions, policy drafts and summarising — the genuinely time-consuming, genuinely low-risk half of the job.
Module 2
Hands-on drafting
Live practice drafting a job ad and tidying a policy document using the organisation's own templates and tone.
Module 3
Summarising sensitive material safely
The real difference between asking Copilot to summarise a document already stored and permissioned in the tenant, and pasting raw personal information straight into a chat window.
Module 4
Sensitivity labels and Purview, in HR terms
What a label actually does, why HR sites are usually the most oversharing-prone content in a tenant, and what 'audit' means in practice if something goes wrong.
Module 5
The lines HR shouldn't cross
Practical, specific dos and don'ts for medical information, WHS incidents, grievances and performance management.
Module 6
Building HR's own guardrails
A short checklist HR can hand to IT afterwards, naming which SharePoint sites and folders are worth reviewing before Copilot access widens.
Prompts we practise in the room
Real tasks, not demo tricks.
Job ad
Draft a job ad for a part-time payroll officer, based on this position description, in a warm but professional tone.
Policy draft
Rewrite this leave policy in plain English, keeping every clause but making it easier for a new employee to follow.
Case summary
Summarise this email chain into a plain timeline of dates and decisions, without names.
Interview questions
Suggest five behavioural interview questions for this position description, focused on teamwork.
Licences: what attendees need
The governance controls this session covers — sensitivity labels, audit logging, and Restricted Content Discovery for an overshared site — live in Microsoft Purview and SharePoint Advanced Management, and your IT team configures them, not HR directly. We'll tell you what to ask IT to check before this session if you're not sure what's already turned on. For the drafting and summarising half of the session, free Copilot Chat covers most of it; a paid seat adds the in-app Word experience for longer policy documents.

Before you book this session.
- How many people can go through this together?
- We keep groups small enough to be hands-on — tell us your headcount and we'll suggest cohorts.
- Can this be customised to our policies and templates?
- Yes — send us a couple of de-identified examples (a policy, a job ad, a PD) beforehand and we'll build the exercises around them.
- Will Copilot see our confidential HR files?
- Copilot only surfaces what the signed-in user is already permitted to see in the tenant — but that's exactly the oversharing risk. HR content shared too broadly for years becomes instantly discoverable. We spend part of this session on that, and can point your IT team to a readiness check if you're unsure what's exposed.
- Do HR staff need a Copilot licence to attend?
- No for the Copilot Chat drafting and summarising work. A paid seat is only needed for the longer in-app Word exercises, which we'll confirm ahead of time.
- Can you run this on-site?
- Yes. We have offices in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide and run on-site sessions at client premises in those cities as standard; elsewhere in Australia on-site is arranged case by case, or we run it live remote.
- What happens after the session?
- The prompt set we used, the dos-and-don'ts checklist, and the SharePoint/oversharing note for your IT team if we flagged anything during the day.
