COPILOT TRAINING
BRIEFING FOR EXECUTIVES & BOARDS.
This isn't the staff workshop with a suit on. It's a briefing for the people who have to decide how far Copilot goes, sized to fit around a board cycle or an executive offsite, with enough hands-on time that nobody's nodding along to something they haven't seen work.
Who it's for
Executive teams, boards and directors who need to make a call on Copilot — whether to license it further, how far to take it, and what to ask IT before they commit more spend.
Format
Usually 90 minutes to half a day, briefing-style with light hands-on time so the room sees it working rather than just hears about it. On-site at your premises or live remote.
What people leave able to do
- Explain in plain language what Copilot does and doesn't do, and where the free tier ends and a paid seat begins.
- Ask informed governance questions before approving a wider rollout — data access, oversharing, audit, licensing.
- Identify two or three functions in the business where Copilot is likely to earn its keep first.
- Understand what 'agent' means in this context, and where agent use introduces its own cost and risk that a chat assistant doesn't.
- Leave with a short, specific list of questions for IT or the Frontrow team before the next spending decision.
The session, module by module
What we cover.
Module 1
What Copilot is, in plain terms
A live, unscripted demo of Copilot Chat and the in-app experience, narrated in business language rather than product-feature language.
Module 2
Where it earns its keep
Realistic, function-by-function use cases tied to this business's own operations — no invented productivity statistics, just what the work actually looks like.
Module 3
The governance conversation
Enough on data access boundaries, oversharing risk, sensitivity labels and audit trails for the room to ask informed questions — this session doesn't configure anything, it prepares you to direct the people who will.
Module 4
Cost and licensing, honestly
How seat licensing and Copilot Credits (the metering for agents grounded on shared data) actually work, and why a trial before a full rollout is usually the lower-risk path.
Module 5
Risk and the questions a board should ask
Where accountability sits once Copilot is switched on, and the short list of questions that separates a considered rollout from a licence purchase nobody follows through on.
Module 6
Next steps
What a readiness assessment or a small trial typically looks like, and how to size one to this business rather than a generic methodology.
Prompts we practise in the room
Real tasks, not demo tricks.
Prepare for a board meeting
Summarise the attached board papers into a one-page briefing highlighting the three items needing a decision today.
Sanity-check a proposal
What questions would a sceptical board member ask about this proposal?
Draft a message to staff
Draft a short note to all staff explaining why we're piloting Copilot, in plain language, no corporate jargon.
Get on top of email load
What are the recurring themes in my last two weeks of email that I should be delegating?
Licences: what attendees need
Every Microsoft work account already has free, web-grounded Copilot Chat. A paid Microsoft 365 Copilot seat adds grounding on the organisation's own Microsoft 365 content and the full in-app experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote — priced per user, per month, on top of the qualifying Microsoft 365 plan. A separate metering system, Copilot Credits, charges for agents built to answer from shared company data (via pre-paid capacity packs or pay-as-you-go), which is a different cost line to seat licensing and worth understanding before approving agent-building work. If you haven't committed to seats yet, Microsoft's Copilot in 30 offer gives eligible businesses under 300 staff a free 25-user, 30-day trial through a CSP partner, running to 31 December 2026 — see our Copilot in 30 trial page (/copilot-in-30-trial).

Before you book this session.
- How many people can attend?
- We keep groups small enough to be hands-on — tell us your headcount and we'll suggest cohorts. Most executive briefings run for a board plus senior leadership, so 6–15 people.
- Can this be customised to our business?
- Yes — tell us your industry and current AI position beforehand and we'll build the use-case discussion and demo around it rather than generic examples.
- Do attendees need a Copilot licence?
- No. The demo runs on free Copilot Chat and, where relevant, an in-app licensed seat we bring — nobody needs to arrive with anything provisioned.
- Can you run this on-site?
- Yes. We have offices in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide and run on-site sessions at client premises in those cities as standard; elsewhere in Australia on-site is arranged case by case, or we run it live remote.
- What happens after the briefing?
- A short written summary of the questions raised, the functions we flagged as good starting points, and — if wanted — a scoped proposal for a readiness assessment or trial.
