What the bundles are
Microsoft's Australian business pricing page now leads with two combined SKUs: Microsoft 365 Business Standard with Copilot at AU$35.20 per user per month ex GST paid yearly (AU$42.24 month-to-month), and Microsoft 365 Business Premium with Copilot at AU$47.90 paid yearly (AU$57.48 month-to-month), both checked September 2026. Each is the ordinary base plan plus Microsoft 365 Copilot Business in a single licence — Microsoft describes Premium with Copilot as 'everything your business needs to be more productive and secure combined with Microsoft 365 Copilot Business'. There are no-Teams variants (Standard with Copilot at AU$30.40) and the US list prices are US$23.50 and US$32.00 respectively. There is no bundle for Business Basic or Microsoft 365 Apps for business; those users take the add-on.
The plan-plus-add-on comparison
Buy the pieces separately and the numbers are stark. Business Standard at AU$21.00 plus Copilot Business at the AU$31.40 list comes to AU$52.40 per user per month; the bundle is AU$35.20, a saving of AU$17.20 a month, or about a third. Business Premium at AU$32.90 plus the add-on is AU$64.30 against a bundle price of AU$47.90 — AU$16.40 cheaper. Even against the promotional AU$26.91 add-on price the bundles win by AU$12.71 and AU$11.91 respectively (all figures ex GST, checked September 2026). Put another way, the bundles price Copilot at roughly AU$14.20 on Standard and AU$15.00 on Premium, less than half the standalone rate. Over a 50-seat tenant that is more than AU$8,000 a year.
When plan plus add-on still makes sense
The add-on route survives in three situations. First, mid-term: annual Business Standard or Premium subscriptions cannot be swapped to a bundle SKU until they renew, so a company six months into its term buys the add-on now and moves to the bundle at renewal. Second, the base plan has no bundle — Business Basic and Apps for business users can only take the add-on. Third, a tenant that mixes Business and Enterprise plans may prefer the enterprise Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on at AU$44.90 for consistency, though it pays heavily for the tidiness. For everyone else, the bundle is the cheaper way to give a user both a plan and Copilot, and the decision is really about which users need Copilot at all.
Traps Frontrow watches for
Microsoft's footnote says 'offers and discounts may vary between Microsoft 365 plans with Copilot', so treat the bundle price as today's shelf price and have your CSP confirm the renewal figure in writing. Monthly billing adds 20 per cent on both bundles, so annual commitment is the price everyone quotes. The bundle is per user: a business can hold Premium with Copilot for its 15 knowledge workers and plain Premium for the other 40, so 'bundle' does not mean 'everyone'. And the security half of Business Premium — Intune, Defender for Business, Conditional Access, Purview labels — still has to be deployed after purchase; a bundle only changes the invoice. Frontrow's default recommendation for an Australian SMB in 2026 is Premium with Copilot for the writing-and-analysis roles, Premium for the rest, and a quarterly usage review.
