Managed IT for Traralgon.
Built for a valley in transition.

Frontrow runs managed IT, IT support, Microsoft 365 and cyber security for Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley — the contractors and suppliers around Loy Yang and Yallourn, the Maryvale mill supply chain, the health providers around Latrobe Regional Hospital, and the professional firms that serve a region working through an energy transition. Serviced remotely by senior, certified people, with on-site visits scheduled when the work needs them.

Why local knowledge matters

The difference regional understanding makes.

The Latrobe Valley runs on generator shutdown dates, a paper mill that never stops, and a grid that has tripped the whole state before. The provider that plans for those realities answers a different way to the one selling a capital-city template.

A city MSP sizes your IT for today's contracts and assumes the power stays on — in a valley where the biggest customers have published their closure dates.

Frontrow runs IT for Latrobe Valley businesses with senior engineers, licensing that scales both ways, continuity designed around a documented outage history, and a planned on-site schedule backed from Adelaide.

A provider that plans for a transition, not one surprised by it.

Honest about the address

No Traralgon shopfront. Senior delivery either way.

Frontrow's offices are in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide — not Traralgon. Rather than pretend otherwise, Frontrow services Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley remotely from the Adelaide team, and schedules on-site visits when a job genuinely needs hands on the ground.

Frontrow has been a Microsoft Partner since 2018, with Modern Work and AI specialisation and a 5× Microsoft MVP on the team. For monitoring, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight and Copilot work, that depth reaches a Latrobe Valley business the same way it reaches an Adelaide one — the senior architect on the call, wherever the desk happens to be.

  • Power generation, and what comes after it

Loy Yang A and B, on the outskirts of Traralgon, together form the largest power station in Australia at 3,280 MW and supplied about 43 per cent of Victoria's electricity in 2025. The timelines are public: Hazelwood closed in March 2017, EnergyAustralia has announced Yallourn will close in mid-2028, and AGL has announced Loy Yang A will close in 2035. Frontrow supports the engineering firms, maintenance contractors and suppliers whose work is tied to those dates — the identity, device and security posture large energy counterparties expect, and systems that keep working as the customer base changes.

  • Timber, pulp and paper at Maryvale

The Maryvale mill, about 8 km from Traralgon, has operated since Australian Paper Manufacturers established it in 1939 and is the largest paper mill in Australia, now run by Opal. Around it sits a forestry, haulage and maintenance supply chain that runs on shifts, not office hours. Frontrow supports the businesses in that chain: production-adjacent systems patched without interrupting a run, job and fleet systems that work from a cab, and the supplier security questionnaires a major manufacturer sends.

  • Health across Gippsland

Latrobe Regional Hospital sits between Traralgon and Morwell, and around the public hub is a network of private clinics, allied health, aged care and community services that serve the whole of Gippsland. Frontrow runs Microsoft 365, backups and Essential Eight aligned controls so a provider can prove its posture to a funder or auditor and keep patient-facing systems available.

  • The Latrobe City services economy

Traralgon is the largest city in the Latrobe Valley, and with Morwell, Moe and Churchill forms the urban core of a 1,426 km² local government area that counted 77,318 people at the 2021 census. The ABS counted 4,753 businesses in the Latrobe LGA at June 2025. Being the largest population centre in Gippsland, the valley hosts the regional offices of government agencies, banks and insurers, alongside Federation University's Gippsland campus at Churchill and a TAFE Gippsland campus in Traralgon. Frontrow supports the accountants, lawyers, builders, trades and services firms that make up most of that count.

Designed for the Latrobe Valley

Built for the city that anchors Gippsland.

A national MSP can sell a generic plan and a local one can sell a local address. Frontrow brings senior Microsoft and cyber depth to a valley whose generators, paper mill and regional hospital carry an economy far bigger than Traralgon itself — and whose health and aged-care providers, councils and agribusinesses each carry compliance obligations a generic plan ignores.

  • Senior people, serviced remotely

Frontrow has no Traralgon office. Day-to-day support, monitoring and the Microsoft depth run remotely from the Adelaide team, with on-site visits scheduled when hands-on work genuinely needs them. The engagement model is the senior architect on the call — not a junior at a local desk.

  • Built for a transition, not a template

A 2022 Victorian government inquiry into Hazelwood's closure found the sudden withdrawal of so large a contributor to the valley's economic output was deeply felt across the region. Businesses here are reshaping their customer mix, and IT should not lock them into yesterday's headcount. Frontrow designs cloud-first with licensing that scales both ways, so a firm isn't paying for a server sized for a contract that has ended.

  • Continuity from a documented history

In February 2024 all four units at Loy Yang A shut down after two transmission lines collapsed, and the 2014 Hazelwood mine fire burned from 9 February until it was declared controlled on 10 March. Frontrow designs for the next event as a certainty of geography: identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365, UPS and 4G/5G failover on site, off-site backups and a written plan for the days a site is unusable.

  • Supply-chain-grade security

Energy generators, the Maryvale mill and the health sector all push security expectations down the chain to the firms that work for them. Frontrow aligns controls to the Essential Eight on the Microsoft 365 stack a business already pays for, and reports posture in terms a procurement team or a board will accept.

Business continuity

The valley has gone dark before. Design for it.

In February 2024, all four units at Loy Yang A shut down after two transmission lines collapsed in storms, and Victorian customers lost power in their hundreds of thousands. A decade earlier, the Hazelwood mine fire started on 9 February 2014 and was not declared controlled until 10 March — a fire the Country Fire Authority's Chief Officer called one of the largest, longest-running and most complex in the state's history.

For a Latrobe Valley business the exposure isn't only the outage — it's what days without power, connectivity or site access do to payroll, a production schedule or a clinic's bookings. Continuity should be designed before the next event, not after it, and the plan should assume the office itself is the thing that's unavailable.

  • Cloud-first, site-optional

If the office loses power or its link, work shouldn't stop with it. Frontrow puts identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365 — not on a server in a back room — so staff keep working from wherever there's a connection.

  • Power & connectivity failover

UPS on the comms rack, 4G/5G failover on the router, and a written plan for who calls whom and what comes back first — designed so a workshop, a clinic or a depot rides out an outage instead of going dark with it.

  • Backups outside the building

Off-site, geographically separate backups with tested restores and documented RTO/RPO. A backup drive in the same room as the server is not a continuity plan in a valley that has been evacuated for smoke.

Plan it with real numbers

Free tools before you talk to anyone.

Frontrow publishes the tools it uses in scoping conversations, free and without a sign-up wall — so a Traralgon business can put numbers around cost, security posture and end-of-support exposure before the first call.

  • Connectivity scoped honestly

Frontrow quotes from what each address can actually get — fixed-line where it exists, business-grade wireless or 4G/5G failover where it doesn't — and builds offline tolerance in from the start rather than promising fibre the street can't order.

  • Built for split sites

An office in Traralgon, a depot in Morwell, crews at a generator site and an accountant in Melbourne — they don't all get the same link. Frontrow designs SharePoint, Teams and Intune for offline-then-sync usage and mixed connectivity, so the slowest site in the fleet isn't the one that breaks the model.

Co-managed option

Got an internal IT lead? Frontrow slots in around them.

Plenty of Latrobe Valley operations already have someone who keeps the lights on. Frontrow co-manages — taking the out-of-hours, the Microsoft depth, the security and the specialist project work — and hands back the day-to-day that team wants to keep. Fully managed if there's no internal IT at all.

  • Predictable monthly cost

Fixed scope, fixed price, fixed SLA. Project work is scoped separately, never slipped in through support.

  • Board-grade reporting

Monthly reports an executive team can read — Essential Eight posture, ticket trends, risk — not a ticket dump.

FAQ — Traralgon & the Latrobe Valley

What Latrobe Valley businesses ask Frontrow.

Do you have an office in Traralgon?
No — Frontrow's offices are in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide. Frontrow services Traralgon and the Latrobe Valley remotely from the Adelaide team, with the same senior, certified people who run IT for clients across QLD, NSW and SA, and schedules on-site visits when work genuinely needs hands on the ground. The honest version: most managed IT is delivered remotely regardless of address, and Frontrow won't claim a local shopfront it doesn't have.
If you're not local, why use Frontrow over a Latrobe Valley IT provider?
Depth. Frontrow has been a Microsoft Partner since 2018 with Modern Work and AI specialisation and a 5× Microsoft MVP on the team — senior capability a single-office regional provider often can't keep on staff. For monitoring, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight and Copilot work, the senior person is on the call no matter where the desk is.
What kind of Traralgon and Latrobe Valley businesses do you run IT for?
Engineering, maintenance and supply firms working around Loy Yang, Yallourn and the Maryvale mill, healthcare and allied-health providers around Latrobe Regional Hospital, and the professional-services, construction and trade businesses across Traralgon, Morwell, Moe and Churchill. Anywhere senior, security-led managed IT matters more than a local address.
Can you support a contractor that works at Loy Yang or Yallourn?
Yes. Large energy owners send supplier security questionnaires and expect evidence, not assurances, and the closure timelines — Yallourn announced for mid-2028, Loy Yang A for 2035 — mean a contractor's customer base will change over the life of a managed agreement. Frontrow aligns controls to the Essential Eight on the Microsoft 365 stack you already pay for, reports posture in a form a procurement team will accept, and designs licensing and devices to scale down as cleanly as they scale up.
How do you plan around power and connectivity outages?
As a documented local reality. In February 2024 all four units at Loy Yang A shut down after two transmission lines collapsed, and the 2014 Hazelwood mine fire burned for a month before it was declared controlled. Frontrow designs cloud-first — identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365 rather than a server in the office — with UPS on the comms rack, 4G/5G failover on the router, off-site backups with tested restores, and a written plan for who calls whom and what comes back first.
Do you cover Morwell, Moe and Churchill as well as Traralgon?
Yes — the same team covers the whole of Latrobe City and the wider valley. A business with an office in Traralgon, a depot in Morwell and staff in Moe gets one provider, one security posture and one number to call, with SharePoint, Teams and Intune designed for mixed connectivity across the sites.
Some of our machines are still on Windows 10 — is that a problem?
It's a countdown. Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025, and Extended Security Updates only buy time — at a rising price. Frontrow's free Microsoft end-of-support exposure check shows which devices and servers in a fleet are running out of road, and managed clients get a planned, budgeted upgrade path instead of a surprise.
Is this fully managed, or can you co-manage with our internal IT person?
Either. Frontrow runs IT fully managed for businesses without an internal team, and co-manages for those with an IT lead — taking the out-of-hours, the Microsoft depth and the specialist work, and handing back the day-to-day they want to keep.
