Managed IT for Bairnsdale.
Built for the far east of the state.

Frontrow runs managed IT, IT support, Microsoft 365 and cyber security for Bairnsdale and East Gippsland — the commercial hub of a 20,940 km² shire, the fishing and tourism economy on the Gippsland Lakes, the farms, timber and food businesses of the Mitchell and Snowy valleys, and the health and care providers serving communities from Paynesville to Mallacoota. Serviced remotely by senior, certified people, with on-site visits scheduled when the work needs them.

Why local knowledge matters

The difference regional understanding makes.

East Gippsland runs on a summer season, sites hundreds of kilometres apart, and a fire history that has cut the region off before. The provider that plans for those realities answers a different way to the one selling a capital-city template.

A city MSP emails you a plan that assumes every site has fibre, the road stays open and the season never peaks.

Frontrow runs IT for East Gippsland businesses with senior engineers, continuity designed around the 2019–20 fires' lesson, and a planned on-site schedule backed from Adelaide.

A provider that plans for distance and fire, not one surprised by them.

Honest about the address

No Bairnsdale shopfront. Senior delivery either way.

Frontrow's offices are in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide — not Bairnsdale. Rather than pretend otherwise, Frontrow services Bairnsdale and East Gippsland remotely from the Adelaide team, and schedules on-site visits when a job genuinely needs hands on the ground.

Frontrow has been a Microsoft Partner since 2018, with Modern Work and AI specialisation and a 5× Microsoft MVP on the team. For monitoring, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight and Copilot work, that depth reaches an East Gippsland business the same way it reaches an Adelaide one — the senior architect on the call, wherever the desk happens to be.

  • Tourism and fishing on the Gippsland Lakes

The Gippsland Lakes are a network of coastal lakes, marshes and lagoons covering about 354 km² between Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Sale, protected under the Ramsar Convention and draining to Bass Strait through a channel near Lakes Entrance. Lakes Entrance, 40 km from Bairnsdale, is a fishing and tourism town whose waterfront is home to its commercial fishing fleet, and the towns around the lakes swell to carry the summer trade. Frontrow supports the accommodation, hospitality, charter and marine businesses behind that season: bookings, payments and rosters that have to work every morning, and a workforce that doubles and halves with the calendar.

  • Agriculture, timber and food

Orbost, where the Princes Highway crosses the Snowy River, is the service centre for beef, dairy cattle and sawmilling, and Bairnsdale itself is home to kiln-dried hardwood production from the Tambo Valley forests and to Patties Foods, which started in 1966 from a Lakes Entrance bakery and is one of the area's largest employers. Frontrow supports the farms, processors, haulage firms and suppliers in that chain — production-adjacent systems that can't stop mid-shift, and the supplier security posture major customers now expect.

  • Health and care across a vast shire

East Gippsland Shire covers 20,940 km² and counted 48,715 people at the 2021 census, with service centres at Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Omeo, Orbost and Paynesville. Health, aged-care, disability and community-services providers run clinics and visits across that distance from a Bairnsdale base. Frontrow runs Microsoft 365, backups and Essential Eight aligned controls so a provider can prove its posture to a funder or auditor and keep patient-facing systems available at the far end of the shire.

  • The East Gippsland services economy

Bairnsdale is the commercial hub of East Gippsland and the seat of East Gippsland Shire Council, 279 km east of Melbourne at the end of the V/Line Bairnsdale line, with a council-owned airport on its edge. The ABS counted 4,776 businesses in the East Gippsland LGA at June 2025 — accountants, lawyers, builders, trades, retailers and the services firms that keep a regional centre running. Frontrow supports them the same way it supports a Brisbane or Adelaide practice: senior people, one number to call.

Designed for East Gippsland

Built for the hub at the end of the line.

A national MSP can sell a generic plan and a local one can sell a local address. Frontrow brings senior Microsoft and cyber depth to a city that carries a shire far bigger than itself — and whose agribusinesses, health and aged-care providers and councils each carry compliance obligations a generic plan ignores.

  • Senior people, serviced remotely

Frontrow has no Bairnsdale office. Day-to-day support, monitoring and the Microsoft depth run remotely from the Adelaide team, with on-site visits scheduled when hands-on work genuinely needs them. The engagement model is the senior architect on the call — not a junior at a local desk.

  • Distance is the design constraint

Bairnsdale is 279 km from Melbourne, Orbost is 375 km, and Mallacoota is further again at the far end of the Princes Highway. A business with sites across the shire cannot assume the same link at each one. Frontrow scopes connectivity from what each address can actually get and designs SharePoint, Teams and Intune for offline-then-sync usage, so the slowest site doesn't break the model.

  • Bushfire-tested continuity

In the 2019–20 season, evacuation warnings issued on 28 December saw more than 30,000 holidaymakers leave East Gippsland, Mallacoota was cut off by hundreds of kilometres of damaged road, and nearly 1,000 people were evacuated by sea on HMAS Choules. Bairnsdale hosted an evacuation centre. Frontrow designs cloud-first with off-site backups and a communications plan that does not depend on one road or one building.

  • Built for seasonal workforces

A visitor economy surges with the summer — crews arrive, accounts multiply, shared devices change hands. Frontrow manages identity so onboarding is fast, offboarding actually happens, and departed seasonal staff don't keep a live login to the booking system or the payroll file.

Business continuity

Roads cut, towns isolated. Design for it.

On 28 December 2019, evacuation warnings for East Gippsland sent more than 30,000 holidaymakers out of the region. By 31 December fire had reached Mallacoota, and with hundreds of kilometres of road damaged the Royal Australian Navy began a civil evacuation by sea on 3 January 2020 — nearly 1,000 people and their pets on HMAS Choules. Bairnsdale ran an evacuation centre at the football pavilion.

For an East Gippsland business the exposure isn't only the fire front — it's what days without road access, power or connectivity do to payroll, bookings and the clients who depend on you. Continuity should be designed before summer, not after the warning, and the plan should assume the office itself is inside the warning area.

  • Cloud-first, site-optional

If the office is unreachable, work shouldn't stop with it. Frontrow puts identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365 — not on a server in a building behind a roadblock — so staff keep working from wherever they've been relocated to.

  • Backups outside the fire's path

Off-site, geographically separate backups with tested restores and documented RTO/RPO. A backup drive in the same building as the server is not a continuity plan in a region that has been evacuated by sea.

  • Power & connectivity failover

UPS on the comms rack, 4G/5G failover on the router, and a written plan for who calls whom and what comes back first — designed so a clinic, a caravan park or a packing shed rides out an outage instead of going dark with it.

Plan it with real numbers

Free tools before you talk to anyone.

Frontrow publishes the tools it uses in scoping conversations, free and without a sign-up wall — so a Bairnsdale business can put numbers around cost, security posture and remote-site readiness before the first call.

  • Connectivity scoped honestly

Frontrow quotes from what each address can actually get — fixed-line where it exists, business-grade wireless or 4G/5G failover where it doesn't — and builds offline tolerance in from the start rather than promising fibre the street can't order.

  • Built for split sites

An office in Bairnsdale, a shopfront at Lakes Entrance, a depot at Orbost and clinics out to Omeo — they don't all get the same link. Frontrow designs SharePoint, Teams and Intune for offline-then-sync usage and mixed connectivity, so the slowest site in the fleet isn't the one that breaks the model.

Co-managed option

Got an internal IT lead? Frontrow slots in around them.

Plenty of East Gippsland operations already have someone who keeps the lights on. Frontrow co-manages — taking the out-of-hours, the Microsoft depth, the security and the specialist project work — and hands back the day-to-day that team wants to keep. Fully managed if there's no internal IT at all.

  • Predictable monthly cost

Fixed scope, fixed price, fixed SLA. Project work is scoped separately, never slipped in through support.

  • Board-grade reporting

Monthly reports an executive team can read — Essential Eight posture, ticket trends, risk — not a ticket dump.

FAQ — Bairnsdale & East Gippsland

What East Gippsland businesses ask Frontrow.

Do you have an office in Bairnsdale?
No — Frontrow's offices are in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide. Frontrow services Bairnsdale and East Gippsland remotely from the Adelaide team, with the same senior, certified people who run IT for clients across QLD, NSW and SA, and schedules on-site visits when work genuinely needs hands on the ground. The honest version: most managed IT is delivered remotely regardless of address, and Frontrow won't claim a local shopfront it doesn't have.
If you're not local, why use Frontrow over an East Gippsland IT provider?
Depth. Frontrow has been a Microsoft Partner since 2018 with Modern Work and AI specialisation and a 5× Microsoft MVP on the team — senior capability a single-office regional provider often can't keep on staff. For monitoring, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight and Copilot work, the senior person is on the call no matter where the desk is.
What kind of Bairnsdale and East Gippsland businesses do you run IT for?
Accommodation, hospitality, charter and marine operators around the Gippsland Lakes and Lakes Entrance, farms, timber and food businesses from the Mitchell valley to the Snowy, health and community-services providers working across the shire, and the professional-services and trade firms that support them from Bairnsdale. Anywhere senior, security-led managed IT matters more than a local address.
How do you plan around bushfire season?
As a documented local reality, not a hypothetical. In the 2019–20 season, more than 30,000 holidaymakers left East Gippsland after evacuation warnings on 28 December, Mallacoota was cut off by road damage, nearly 1,000 people were evacuated by HMAS Choules, and Bairnsdale ran an evacuation centre. Frontrow designs cloud-first — identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365 rather than a server in a building that may be inside a warning area — with off-site backups, tested restores and a written continuity plan that assumes roads and power may be out for days.
Can you support a business with sites across the shire — Bairnsdale, Lakes Entrance and Orbost?
Yes — that's the shape of most East Gippsland operations. Sites hundreds of kilometres apart don't get the same connectivity, so Frontrow scopes each address from what it can actually get, designs for mixed and intermittent links, and runs one identity, one security posture and one support number across all of them.
Can you support a seasonal tourism or fishing business?
Yes — that's the shape of a visitor economy on the lakes. Licensing, identity and devices are managed so the fleet grows for the summer and shrinks after it without paying year-round for peak headcount, and offboarding is enforced so seasonal staff don't retain access after they've moved on.
Some of our machines are still on Windows 10 — is that a problem?
It's a countdown. Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025, and Extended Security Updates only buy time — at a rising price. Frontrow's free Microsoft end-of-support exposure check shows which devices and servers in a fleet are running out of road, and managed clients get a planned, budgeted upgrade path instead of a surprise.
Is this fully managed, or can you co-manage with our internal IT person?
Either. Frontrow runs IT fully managed for businesses without an internal team, and co-manages for those with an IT lead — taking the out-of-hours, the Microsoft depth and the specialist work, and handing back the day-to-day they want to keep.
