Microsoft Loop: Collaborative Components and Workspaces for Australian Teams

Microsoft Loop provides live, collaborative components that can be embedded across Microsoft 365 apps, enabling real-time updates and shared workflows for AU mid-market organisations.

What Microsoft Loop does

Microsoft Loop introduces components – live, dynamic units of content – that can be embedded within Microsoft Teams, Outlook, OneNote, and other Microsoft 365 applications. These components, such as tasks, tables, or polls, remain synchronised across all locations they are embedded, ensuring everyone views the latest information. Loop workspaces and pages provide dedicated spaces to organise and collaborate on these components, fostering a more structured and streamlined workflow.

Microsoft Loop in Australian tenants today

In AU mid-market environments, understanding Loop’s data residency is crucial. Loop content is stored within the OneDrive of the component creator, meaning existing OneDrive governance policies, including eDiscovery and Microsoft Purview retention labels, automatically apply. Organisations need to carefully review external sharing settings for Loop components, as these are governed by the creator’s OneDrive sharing permissions. Integration with Microsoft 365 sensitivity labels is available, allowing for consistent classification and protection of Loop content, aligning with OAIC Privacy Act 2024 requirements and APRA CPS 234.
