What Defender for Cloud does

Defender for Cloud offers a tiered approach to cloud security. The foundational tier provides basic posture assessment, while paid tiers offer enhanced threat detection and remediation capabilities. Workload plans cover various environments including servers, containers, storage accounts, SQL databases, and key vaults. It provides visibility and recommendations to improve your security posture, identifying misconfigurations and vulnerabilities across your cloud environments. The platform’s multi-cloud support simplifies security management for organisations using multiple cloud providers.

Defender for Cloud in Australian tenants today

For AU mid-market organisations, Defender for Cloud assists in meeting obligations under the ACSC Essential Eight and ASD ISM. Pre-built dashboards help demonstrate compliance with standards like APRA CPS 234 and PCI DSS. Integrating Defender for Cloud with Microsoft Sentinel enables a unified security operations centre, correlating cloud security alerts with other security data. The Notifiable Data Breach scheme requires prompt detection and response; Defender for Cloud’s threat detection capabilities contribute to this. The Australian Voluntary AI Safety Standard also encourages secure development and deployment practices which Defender for Cloud can assist with by securing AI-related workloads.
