Managed IT for Gatton and the Lockyer Valley.
Built for the salad bowl and the highway through it.

Frontrow runs managed IT, Microsoft 365 and cyber security for Gatton, Laidley, Plainland and the Lockyer Valley: the growers, packers and carriers behind one of Australia's most productive vegetable regions, the beef, fodder and equine operations around them, the firms working alongside the UQ Gatton campus and the council, and the retailers and depots of the Warrego Highway corridor. Supported from Frontrow's Brisbane office, with continuity designed for a valley that has flooded within living memory.

Why local knowledge matters

The difference regional understanding makes.

The Lockyer Valley runs on a creek that has risen eight metres in 23 minutes, a highway that carries the Downs to the coast, and supply chains whose buyers push security questions down to the farm gate. The provider that designs for those realities answers a different way to the one selling a capital-city template.

A city MSP emails you a plan that assumes the link is fibre, the creek stays in its banks and nobody asks for a security questionnaire.

Frontrow runs IT for Lockyer Valley businesses with senior engineers, continuity designed for a documented flood history, and on-site work backed from a real Brisbane office.

A provider that understands a farming valley and plans for it, not one surprised by it.

Honest about the address

No Gatton shopfront. Senior delivery either way.

Frontrow's offices are in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide, not Gatton or anywhere else in the Lockyer Valley. Rather than pretend otherwise, Frontrow supports the valley from its Brisbane office at Level 1, 355 Queen Street, and schedules on-site visits when a job genuinely needs hands on the ground. Plainland is 75 km and Laidley 84 km west along the Warrego Highway: a drive, not a flight.

Frontrow has been a Microsoft Partner since 2018, with Modern Work and AI specialisation and a 5× Microsoft MVP on the team. For monitoring, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight and Copilot work, that depth reaches a Gatton packer or a Laidley practice the same way it reaches a Brisbane one: the senior architect on the call, wherever the desk happens to be.

  • Horticulture and the salad bowl supply chain

The Lockyer Valley is rated among the most fertile farming areas in the world, grows the most diverse range of commercial fruit and vegetables of any area in Australia, and supplies around 40 per cent of the fresh vegetables eaten in South East Queensland. Nearly all of the nation's processing beetroot comes from here. Behind the farms sit packing sheds, cold stores, carriers, agronomists and the agents and suppliers who deal with supermarket programs. Frontrow runs the IT those businesses depend on, with the record-keeping and security their buyers now expect.

  • Beef, lucerne and the equine industry

The valley carries significant beef and dairy cattle, a large abattoir operates at Grantham, Gatton is a noted producer of prime lucerne hay, and an equine industry has grown around the fodder. Those are businesses with yards, sheds and sale rings rather than desks, and their systems have to work from a phone in a paddock. Frontrow builds identity, devices and continuity for operations that run on the link an address can actually get.

  • Education, research and government

The University of Queensland's Gatton campus at Lawes began life as the Queensland Agricultural College in 1897 and is now the base for much of the university's rural research and teaching. Gatton is also the administrative centre of the Lockyer Valley Regional Council, and the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre has operated near the town since 2012. The contractors, suppliers and services firms that work alongside institutions like these carry obligations that a small IT shop can struggle to evidence. Frontrow runs Essential Eight aligned controls that a procurement team will accept.

  • Transport, highway services and the Plainland corridor

The Warrego Highway carries freight between Brisbane and the Darling Downs straight through the valley, Gatton gained a heavy-vehicle decoupling facility in 2021, and Plainland, 75 km west of Brisbane, has grown around its 2004 highway interchange into a retail and services hub with a travel centre, a plaza, a Bunnings and new residential estates. ABS counted about 3,700 businesses across the Lockyer Valley at June 2025, and a growing share trade from that corridor. Frontrow supports depots, retailers and services firms with systems that stay up when the trucks are on the road.

Designed for the Lockyer Valley

Built for Australia's salad bowl.

A national MSP can sell a generic plan and a local one can sell a local address. Frontrow brings senior Microsoft and cyber depth to a valley enclosed by the Great Dividing Range, where Gatton was gazetted in 1855 as one of Queensland's earliest settlements, Helidon sandstone went into Brisbane City Hall, and the black soils support a vegetable industry worth around $160 million a year. Frontrow services the cities at either end of the valley the same way, including Ipswich to the east and Toowoomba at the top of the range.

  • Backed from the Brisbane office

Frontrow has no Gatton, Laidley or Plainland shopfront. The Lockyer Valley is supported from the Brisbane office at Level 1, 355 Queen Street, with Plainland about 75 km and Laidley about 84 km west along the Warrego Highway, and on-site visits scheduled when hands-on work genuinely needs them. Day-to-day support and monitoring run remotely, with the same senior architect a Brisbane client gets.

  • Flood season is a matter of record

On 10 January 2011 a flash flood through Grantham killed 12 people and destroyed much of the town, Lockyer Creek rose eight metres in 23 minutes, and the Warrego Highway over the Toowoomba Range was not fully reopened until September. Laidley flooded again on 30 January 2024 after 300 mm fell overnight. Frontrow designs for the next event as a certainty of geography: cloud-first systems, off-site backups and a written plan for the days the road or the power is out.

  • Honest about connectivity

The valley is also the driest part of South East Queensland, and its farms and sheds are spread across a lot of country with no fibre in sight. Frontrow scopes connectivity from what each address can actually get, fixed-line where it exists and business-grade wireless or 4G/5G failover where it doesn't, and builds SharePoint, Teams and Intune for offline-then-sync usage so a slow or interrupted link doesn't stop work.

  • Between Ipswich and Toowoomba, one standard

The Lockyer Valley Region was formed in 2008 from the old Gatton and Laidley shires and sits between Ipswich and Toowoomba, with urban growth pressing in from both ends. A business here often has a shed outside Gatton, a shop at Plainland and customers in both cities. Frontrow services the whole corridor from one team, so a split operation gets one security posture, one set of standards and one number to call.

Business continuity

Lockyer Creek rose eight metres in 23 minutes. Design for the next time.

On 10 January 2011 a flash flood swept through Grantham, killing 12 people and destroying much of the town; the Bureau of Meteorology recorded Lockyer Creek rising eight metres in 23 minutes and initially dismissed the reading as a fault. Helidon became the evacuation centre, the council later moved Grantham to higher ground, and it now runs a network of flood cameras the public can view online. Laidley flooded again on 30 January 2024 after 300 mm of rain overnight.

For a valley business, the exposure isn't only the water. It is what days without power, connectivity or road access do to perishable stock, payroll and the buyers who still expect a delivery. Continuity should be designed before the summer storm season, not after the warning, and Frontrow builds it into the managed service rather than selling it as an add-on.

  • Cloud-first, site-optional

If the shed or the office is unreachable, work shouldn't stop with it. Frontrow puts identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365, not on a server beside the creek, so staff keep working from wherever they've ridden the weather out.

  • Backups outside the catchment

Off-site, geographically separate backups with tested restores and documented RTO/RPO. A backup drive in the same building as the server is not a continuity plan on a floodplain.

  • Power & connectivity failover

UPS on the comms rack, 4G/5G failover on the router, and a written plan for who calls whom and what comes back first, designed so a packing shed, a depot or a clinic rides out an outage instead of going dark with it.

Already working nearby

The same team, the same standards, along the highway.

Lockyer Valley businesses trade east to Ipswich and Brisbane and west over the range to Toowoomba. Frontrow runs managed IT for those places from the same Brisbane team and to the same standard.

  • Connectivity scoped honestly

Frontrow quotes from what each address can actually get, from fixed-line in a Plainland estate to business-grade wireless or 4G/5G failover on a farm out past Tenthill, and builds offline tolerance in from the start rather than promising a link the road can't deliver.

  • Built for split sites

A packing shed outside Gatton, a shop at Plainland, a depot near Laidley and an accountant in Toowoomba do not all get the same link. Frontrow designs SharePoint, Teams and Intune for offline-then-sync usage and mixed connectivity, so the slowest site in the fleet isn't the one that breaks the model.

Co-managed option

Got an internal IT lead? Frontrow slots in around them.

Plenty of Lockyer Valley operations already have someone who keeps the lights on. Frontrow co-manages, taking the out-of-hours, the Microsoft depth, the security and the specialist project work, and hands back the day-to-day that team wants to keep. Fully managed if there's no internal IT at all.

  • Predictable monthly cost

Fixed scope, fixed price, fixed SLA. Project work is scoped separately, never slipped in through support.

  • Board-grade reporting

Monthly reports an executive team can read: Essential Eight posture, ticket trends, risk. Not a ticket dump.

FAQ — Gatton & the Lockyer Valley

What Lockyer Valley businesses ask Frontrow.

Do you have an office in Gatton or the Lockyer Valley?
No. Frontrow's offices are in Brisbane, Mackay, Townsville and Adelaide. Gatton, Laidley, Plainland and the rest of the Lockyer Valley are supported from the Brisbane office at Level 1, 355 Queen Street, with on-site visits scheduled when work genuinely needs hands on the ground. The honest version: most managed IT is delivered remotely regardless of address, and Frontrow won't claim a local shopfront it doesn't have.
If you're not local, why use Frontrow over a Lockyer Valley IT provider?
Depth. Frontrow has been a Microsoft Partner since 2018 with Modern Work and AI specialisation and a 5× Microsoft MVP on the team, which is senior capability a single-office regional provider often can't keep on staff. For monitoring, Microsoft 365, Essential Eight and Copilot work, the senior person is on the call no matter where the desk is. And Plainland is 75 km from Brisbane on the Warrego Highway, so on-site work is a drive, not a flight.
What kind of Lockyer Valley businesses do you run IT for?
Growers, packers, carriers and the agents and suppliers behind the valley's vegetable industry, beef, fodder and equine operations, the contractors and services firms working alongside the UQ Gatton campus, the council and the correctional centre, and the retailers, depots and professional firms of the Plainland and Laidley corridor. Anywhere senior, security-led managed IT matters more than a local address.
How do you plan around flood season?
As a documented local reality, not a hypothetical. The January 2011 flash flood killed 12 people at Grantham and prompted the council to relocate the town to higher ground, Lockyer Creek rose eight metres in 23 minutes, and Laidley flooded again in January 2024. Frontrow designs cloud-first, with identity, files and phones in Microsoft 365 rather than on a server in a low-lying shed, off-site backups with tested restores, and a written continuity plan that names who calls whom and what comes back first.
Can you support a grower or packer that supplies the supermarkets?
Yes. Supermarket programs and export customers increasingly push security and record-keeping questions down to their suppliers, and they expect evidence rather than assurances. Frontrow aligns controls to the Essential Eight on the Microsoft 365 stack a business already pays for, keeps the systems behind traceability and quality records backed up and restorable, and reports posture in a form a buyer's procurement team will accept.
Our sheds are a long way from town and the coverage is patchy. Can managed IT still work?
Yes, if it is designed for the link rather than in spite of it. Frontrow scopes from what each address can actually get, adds business-grade wireless or 4G/5G failover where fixed-line is weak, and builds SharePoint, Teams and Intune for offline-then-sync usage so a packing shed outside Gatton or a yard near Laidley keeps working through a slow or interrupted connection.
Some of our machines are still on Windows 10. Is that a problem?
It's a countdown. Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025, and Extended Security Updates only buy time at a rising price. Managed clients get a planned, budgeted upgrade path for the devices and servers running out of road, instead of a surprise.
Is this fully managed, or can you co-manage with our internal IT person?
Either. Frontrow runs IT fully managed for businesses without an internal team, and co-manages for those with an IT lead, taking the out-of-hours, the Microsoft depth and the specialist work, and handing back the day-to-day they want to keep.
